3D Ultrasound

We had our 3D ultrasound at our doctor visit today and it was awesome! Jack wasn't positioned very well and the umbilical cord was covering up half of his face but we got some really great pictures. We were able to see him smile, open and close his eyes and mouth, nod his head and wiggle his fingers and toes. He's got the cutest lips, a little pug nose (not sure who's nose he has) and some very defined legs. Jack weighs 3 pounds and 9 ounces and is right on schedule. The ultrasound tech couldn't tell us how long he was but she thinks he's going to be long. The doctor said everything looked great and wants to see me back in 2 weeks. My next appointment is on January 15.

Here are a few pictures of our little guy! He is so cute and we can't wait for him to be here! I hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year!

Jack's right eye is open.

I love this picture...check out those lips and that cute little nose!

Christmas 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas! We spent Christmas Eve with my family and Christmas Day with Larry's family. We did a lot of driving but it was worth spending time with both families. Jack got so many gifts...he's going to be one spoiled little boy!

This is our first Christmas in our new home and we were so excited to decorate the inside and outside. Larry handled the outside and I decorated the inside. Here are a few pictures of our home decorated for the holidays! I also included a picture of Larry and I, at my parents house, in front of the Chrsitmas tree (I'm 30 weeks in the picture). Jack is a growing boy!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with their family and friends!

Jack Kicked Daddy!

Yesterday, we had a very lazy day and it was so nice! We were laying around and decided to let Jack listen to some music. Larry put the headphones on my belly and put his ear against my belly to see if he could hear him rumbling around. He didn't hear anything, but all of a sudden, Jack kicked Larry in the head. It was so funny to see the expression on Larry's face...we both laughed! When we first put the headphones on, he kicked and moved around but then stopped. I wonder if the music calms him down and makes him go to sleep. I've always heard to play your baby music before they are born and the same music will help calm them down once they arrive.

Pricked and Poked

Jack and I had a very long day today! We had our monthly doctor visit and everything was great! Jack's little heart was beating at 138 beats per minute. My doctor now wants to see me back in 3 weeks so my next appointment is on December 30. At that appointment, they will do the 3D ultrasound and we can't wait!

After my doctor visit today, I had to go to the hospital for my diabetes screening and the RhoGAM shot. I have never been pricked and poked as much as I was today. Once I got to the hosptial, they had to draw blood and run some tests before they could give me the shot. Then, I had to drink the glucose drink, which wasn't that bad...it tasted like Sunkist. I had to wait an hour and then go back so they could draw more blood. Then, I had to wait another hour and a half to get my diabetes results back. I finally got the RhoGAM shot, which they gave me in my hip. We are so exhausted but glad everything was ok!

I'm 28 weeks today! Its also the first day of my third trimester and Jack weighs 2 pounds (according to my books and websites). Jack has been a very active little boy! Sometimes I can see my belly move when he kicks. I love it so much, I catch myself staring at my belly waiting for him to move. I can't believe we only have 12 more weeks to go!

Doing Flips

Jack is moving more and more each day but last night it felt like he was doing flips...he was all over the place. He started moving around 10:00 pm and didn't stop until about 12:30 am. I didn't get much sleep, but I didn't mind, because I love feeling him move around. I wonder if it had anything to do with the baggy full of sweets Lauren brought over. I usually don't eat sweets but everything in the bag looked so good I had to try one of each. Thanks again for the goodies, Lauren! Jack and I really enjoyed them and can't wait to eat more tonight!

Thanksgiving, Deer Hunting and a Belly Pic

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year! We spent Thanksgiving Day with Larry's family and spent the weekend with my family. It's always great to get the whole family together, especially during the holiday's! While my mom and I did some shopping on Saturday, Larry went deer hunting with my dad and shot his second deer, ever. During deer season, Larry loves to go hunting while we're in Gonzales...I hardly ever see him while we're there. The first time Larry ever went hunting was two years ago and he actually shoot a deer on his first try...I was so proud! I didn't post any pictures of the deer because I didn't want to gross anyone out!

I've had many requests for updated belly pics, so here you go. Jack is growing so fast and so is my belly!

24 Weeks and Kicking

I'm 24 weeks and 2 days and Jack is kicking up a storm! I usually feel him moving around first thing in the morning and after eating a full meal. The other night, after eating dinner, I laid down on my left side and I felt him move. Then, he started kicking me pretty hard. I yelled for Larry and he was able to feel him but then told me to get off him. I was either laying on his head or he has some strong little legs.

I went to the doctor today for my monthly visit and everything was great! I just got over having the flu/cold and my doctor recommended that I get a flu shot, so I did. Hopefully, I won't get sick anyone this year!! My next doctor visit is on December 9. At that visit, I'll do my diabetes screening and get my RhoGAM shot, which will all be done at the hospital. Since my blood type is Rh negative, they need my results from the diabetes screening before they can give me the RhoGAM shot and that's why everything's done in the hospital. I'll let everyone know how it goes!

Why you shouldn't let your husband blog....

So last night I was checking my blog and Larry decided he wanted to post something. Please keep in mind that we have both been sick and he was drinking Thera-Flu, which makes him very loopy! If you know Larry, you will think its funny! This is what he had to say.....

It's Larry NOT Shelly

Holy crap I thought women got a little more frisky as the pregnancy progressed... guess who was wrong...I was!!! I cant believe I'm actualy writing on this thing but I've been sippin on some Thera-flu, and I was feelin it and I had to make sure she took that stupid picture of me off this thing. I feel this posting should be read by all expecting dads so they are not fooled by all the myths that we are led to believe. We are sheep led to the wolves... RUN. I kid. thats the theraflu talkin. The concert was fun. Shelly was fun! Randy was awesome! K.O.L. were awesome! And no I dont plan on playin bongos with Jack....... more like death metal, its a proven fact that kids into metal are smarter than kids who listen to idiots like brit, madonna, cold play, etc. I'm getting really weird looks from Shelly so I better go...deer park high school football rules, cowboys suck, and casa ole is still the best mex. food restraunt in texas!

Jack's First Rock Concert!

Larry and I got tickets to see Kings of Leons, who are an up and coming band we both love! They were awesome and we were so excited that Jack was able to be there with us. Larry really wants Jack to love music as much as he does. Larry will play him songs on his guitar and sometimes throw in a beat from his bongos. It's so sweet!

Here are a few pictures from the concert last night.

Belly Pics

Many of you requested a belly shot, so here you go! My doctor was right when she said I wouldn't start showing until around 20 weeks and one morning I would wake up and have a belly. In these last two weeks my belly has really popped out. I'm at a weird stage where none of my regular clothes fit but I'm still to small for maternity clothes...the "Bella Band" has become my new best friend!

On Sunday, I felt Jack move for the first time. It was amazing! It felt like little bubbles popping in my stomach. I can't wait until he's bigger so we can feel him move more often.

Oh Boy!!!

We found out today that we're having a little boy! We are so excited and can't wait to meet our little man. The doctor had no problem seeing it was a boy. As soon as we started the ultrasound the doctor asked if we were ready to find out (we couldn't believe she could tell that fast), we both immediately said "YES!!". She told us we were having a boy and he was already showing off....legs wide open. Larry was VERY proud!! A few of my friends, told me to drink a coke before my ultrasound so the baby would be active. Boy, was he active!! The doctor had a hard time taking a picture because he wouldn't stay still. At one point the doctor said he was doing karate. It was amazing to see him move around. They didn't do the 3D ultrasound, like I thought they would, but we have some wonderful pictures. Oh, and I gained 8 pounds in one month....I knew I had gained some weight!

Our little guy will be named Jack! Larry and I have had that named picked out since before we were married. His middle name will be Michael, which is Larry's middle name and a family name on both sides of our family. Jack Michael Furman....we love it and can't wait for him to be here!!!

Jack playing with his foot....I love this picture!

Still playing with his foot. His other leg is bent to his chest.

IT'S A BOY!!! Larry is so proud of this picture!

One More Week...Boy or Girl?

We find out whether we're having a boy or a girl in exactly one week from today!!!! We are so excited, we can hardly wait! I'm so anxious to finalize a name and start working on the nursery. We pretty much have everything picked out for the nursery (I bet that doesn't surprise a few of you) and have our names narrowed down. We both would be happy with either a boy or a girl but I think Larry is hoping more for a boy. He's a little nervous about having a little girl because he knows he will be wrapped around her little finger and she will get whatever she wants....he's a little scared and I think its cute! As soon as we find out, I'll let everyone know.

I'm 19 weeks today and finally started to show a little bit! I have a small pooch, that gets bigger throughout the day because I'm eating everything in sight. My appetite has completely changed in these last few weeks and I'm curious to see how much weight I've gained. I hadn't gained anything at my last doctor visit but I bet that will change at my next visit!

16 Weeks and Counting

Today, I'm actually 16 weeks and 1 day pregnant! Everything's been great and I'm finally feeling back to my old self. We had a doctor visit scheduled for yesterday but due to Ike, it was rescheduled for today. The doctor checked the heartbeat and our babies heart was beating 146 beats per minute. The doctor said everything was great and that I was right on schedule with my size. I'm not really showing yet but I have a small pooch. The doctor said most women my size don't show until around 20 weeks and one morning I would wake up and have a bump. My next doctor visit is on October 14, and we'll get to find out the sex our baby! We will also be able to see our baby on a 3D Ultrasound. We are so excited and can't wait to see our little one and be able to count fingers and toes and find out if its a boy or a girl! We'll find out in 4 weeks...the count down is on!!!

I hope everyone made it safely through Ike...our power finally came back on this evening!!

Rh Negative (12 Weeks)

We had our second doctor visit this morning and everything went great! The doctor didn't do an ultrasound but we were able to hear our babies heartbeat. My next ultrasound will be at around 20 weeks and at that time we will get to find out the sex of our baby....can't wait! I did find out that my blood type is Rh negative, which is very rare. Being Rh negative, there's a good chance that my blood is incompatible with our baby's blood, which is likely to be Rh positive. You don't know for sure until the baby is born, but in most cases you have to assume it, just to be safe. Sometimes the baby's Rh positive red blood cells can enter the mother's bloodstream. It isn't likely to harm the mother and baby during the first pregnancy but these antibodies remain in the mother's bloodstream after the baby is born. If I get pregnant again and that baby is Rh positive, the antibodies in my blood from the first pregnancy will try to destroy the second baby's positive red blood cells causing Rh disease. To make sure this doesn't happen, I have to get a RhoGAM shot at 28 weeks and again after the baby is born. I know this is all confusing and may sound a little scary but after talking to the doctor, everything will be fine as long as I get the shot. I'm still doing some research on Rh negative blood type and will keep you posted.

I'm 12 weeks today and feeling much better than I did last week! I'm still a little tired at times but not feeling as nauseas in the evenings. I never had "Morning Sickness", I've had "Evening Sickness" and it has not been fun for Larry or me.

First Picture of Baby Furman!

As you all may know, Team Furman is having a BABY!! When we first found out the good news, we were shocked (because it happened so quickly) but EXTREMELY excited! Larry started singing some song about his “Jungle Juice”….whatever that means!!

We thought this would be a great way to keep everyone updated on our little one and also something for us to look back on. As of today, I'm 11 weeks and 1 day pregnant. We are very excited and can't wait to add our new little addition to our family. We had our first doctors appointment on July 21....it was amazing. The doctor did an ultrasound and we were able to hear our babies heartbeat. My due date is March 3, 2009 and the doctor said everything looked great! Right now, I see the doctor once a month and my next appointment is on August 19 and we can't wait to see our little one again! We'll keep you updated as our little one continues to grow!

Here's the first picture of Baby Furman at 8 weeks!!! YEA!!
