Jack's First Bath

Jack's umbilical stump finally fell off and we were able to give him a bath for the first time last night. I was really nervous because I just knew he was going to hate it, but I was wrong...he loved it! He didn't cry once and was so calm and relaxed after we were done. I'm so happy he enjoys bath time!

Big Bed

We didn't get much sleep last night. Jack was waking up every 1 - 2 hours, which is not like him. He usually wakes up every 3 - 4 hours, I feed him and he goes right back to sleep. After feeding him at 6:00 am, Jack would not go back to sleep and I was exhausted so I put him in bed with us. Big mistake....as soon as his head hit the pillow he was out and we didn't wake up until 9:00 am! I don't want to make this a habit but mommy was desperate this morning and needed sleep. He looked so peaceful sleeping in our bed, I had to take a picture.

2 Weeks and Road Trip

Jack is 2 weeks old today! We also had his 2 week check-up today and our pediatrician was very happy and said Jack was doing great! He weighs 8 pounds, 4 ounces (25% - 50%) and is 20 3/4 inches long (25% - 50%). Jack is a growing boy...he loves to eat! He's starting to smile more and more each day and is starting to grab things, like mommy's hair and necklace. When he's a wake, he is very alert and loves to sit in his Boppy Lounger and check everything out. His tear ducts are working and it breaks my heart to see a tear rolling down his face.

Jack went on his first road trip this weekend. We went to visit my parents in Gonzales. He loves to travel, as long as the car is moving. He gets very upset when the car stops! We had a wonderful time visiting Mimi and PaPa! Here are a few updated pictures of Jack!

Jack loves to sleep with his knees bent and his hands by his head.

Welcome Home Jack!

We got home from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. We were so happy to finally be home! Our first night at home was a little rough but we worked out all the kinks and last night was great. My mom has been staying with us and she has been a big help, especially on the first night. Larry has been awesome and very helpful! Jack loves staring at his daddy and taking naps on his chest. Jack had his first doctors appointment this morning and he's doing great. When he left the hospital he weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces (apparently babies lose weight in there first few days....I did not know this). When they weighed him at the doctors office today he was back to his original birth weight (7 pounds, 4 ounces). We go back to the doctor in 2 weeks. Here are a few pictures of Jack since we've been home...he is absolutely precious and I'm completely in love!!

Jack is Finally Here!!

Jack Michael Furman arrived yesterday (March 9) at 12:25 pm. Jack weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces and 20 1/2 inches long. I was scheduled to be induced yesterday at 5:30 am but Jack decided to come on his own a few hours before. I started having contractions at midnight, went to the hospital around 1:00 am and Jack was here 12 hours later. Larry and I are so happy and excited for him to finally be here....he was definitely worth the wait! Here are a few pictures of our little man.

Taking His Time!

Well, I went back to the doctor today and very little has changed since last week. My cervix still isn't where my doctor wants it to be so she wants to wait a few more days before inducing. We scheduled my induction for Monday, March 9 at 5:30 AM (this time its set in stone). If we were to induce on Thursday, I could be in labor forever or the induction drug may not even work. At my doctors appointment today, they did an NST (nonstress test) to monitor Jack's heart rate and movement. The NST also showed if I was having contractions...I acutally had a few minor contractions but nothing major. Jack's heart rate is great and he seems to be very happy!

Today is my due date and we are really anxious for Jack to be here but we don't want to rush things. There is still a possiblity he could come before Monday, but if not, he will definitely be here Monday!!
