Old MacDonalds Farm

We went to Old MacDonalds Farm in Humble this morning. Jack's friends, Olivia and Audrey (and their parents), met us there and we all had so much fun! We walked around and looked at all the farm animals. We even got to pet and feed a few of them. The kids ran around in the pumpkin patch, played on the huge playground and rode the train (which was Jack's favorite part)! He was so excited about the train he kept saying "ride, ride" and "choo choo". The weather was perfect and the kids (and parents) really enjoyed it!

Bike Ride!

We recently purchased a child seat that attaches to the front of our bikes. We love going on bike rides and now that we have this seat for Jack, we can all go together. Jack loves the seat and has a great view but most of all he loves wearing his helmet. He wants to put it on everytime he sees it! The seat is attached to Larry's bike (I'm still not comfortable putting it on mine). We've definfitely been going on more bike rides and got it just in time for the great weather we've been having!

Meet Angus

Jack loves fish! It probably has something to do with my Dad building a fishing pond in the back of their land a week after finding out I was pregnant, and Jack has been fishing in it ever since he was born. Jack's school has a big aquarium in the lobby and we have to stop and look at all the fish everytime we pass by it. So, I got this great idea to get him his very own fish. Larry came up with the name Angus (Jack calls him Agus). He loves to check on him, wants to put his hands in his bowl and gave him a kiss before going to bed tonight...so sweet!

Animal Sounds

Jack picks up on things very quickly and has a great memory! Here's a video of him making different animal sounds. He knows more but we can only ask him to do a few before he gets distracted. He's been practicing them daily (for the past month or so) and I finally got it on video. My favorite sound that he makes is a cat. He gets this adorable, funny look on his face when he says "meow". At the end of the video, he even helps me count to 3...he's such a smart little boy!!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Things have been crazy and we have been super busy!! I've been traveling a lot for work and Jack and Daddy have spent a lot of quality time together. We've had birthday parties, getting ready for football (Go Cowboys), Jack got his first stomach bug (which took all of us a few days to recover from - not fun) and we've been spending a lot of time outside before the summer ends. On September 15, Larry and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary. We haven't been on a fun trip together (just the two of us) in a really long time so we decided to go to San Diego for a few nights. We had so much fun and that was a much needed trip! Jack stayed with Mimi and Pop and had a blast! We got back yesterday and we were so happy to see our little man. We have no plans this weekend and can't wait to hang out and do something fun together. Here are lots pictures from the last couple of weeks and our trip to San Diego.

Mimi & Pop bought Jack his first pair of boots and he wants to wear them all the time...pants or no pants!

Yep, he still loves hats (more to come on the bike helmet)!

Our first night in SD, we went to the Gaslamp Strip Club Steakhouse (it's not what you think; it's a restaurant) - everyone grills their own steaks.

The bridge to Coronado Island.

The weather was amazing so we took a water taxi instead of driving across the bridge.

Larry getting in the water...it was way to cold for me!

View from our hotel.

On the beach - behind us is the Hotel Del (one of the first hotels to get electricity...its old but very nice)!

River Trip

We had so much fun last year in New Braunfuls for my family's annual summer vacation, we decided to go back this year! We stayed in the same house right on the river. Jack really enjoyed playing in the water, walking around with Pops looking for rocks (he loves throwing rocks) and watching all the tubers float by. Jack is really into hats and in most of our pictures he's wearing a hat. We're not sure what his deal is with hats lately but he loves them so much he even took a nap with one on! We had a really great time at the river and can't wait until next year!

I wanna be a fireman!

So, I was out of town for work on Tuesday and most of Wednesday and Larry sent me this funny video of Jack and his fireman hat. I was at dinner when I received it and showed everyone at the table! Jack wasn't feeling good over the weekend so I took him to the doctor on Monday and he has bronchitis. I didn't want to leave, but I didn't have a choice so I was very happy to see that he was feeling better. Please excuse the nakedness. It's a challenge getting him dressed after taking a bath.

What's new with Jack?

Jack's vocabulary is expanding everyday and he's learning so much. The teachers at his school teach the kids sign language (just your basic words). About 3 months ago, Jack walked up to us and hit his fists together. For the longest time we didn't know what he was doing or trying to tell us, until we googled it and found out that was the sign for "more". He now will say the word "more" and do the sign. Jack also knows the sign for "eat" (and will also say the word) and "please". Here are a few more words that Jack has added to his vocabulary: cracker, tractor, kick, eye, hot, nigh night, boon (moon - always looking for it in the sky), hat, sit down, all gone, all right and his current favorite word is mine.

He loves books and will sneak off to his room to read a book. His favorite book right now is a word and picture book called First 100 Words. He points to a picture, we'll say what it is (if he doesn't beat us to it) and tries to repeat the word. He can point to all of his facial features and body parts. His favorite movie is Finding Nemo and he goes crazy about all the pish (fish).

We've started to put Jack in timeout when he misbehaves and so far, we've only had to do it twice. But now when we ask him, "Do you want to go to timeout?", he walks over to the corner and stands there. It's so funny and we can't help but laugh! He gets this sad puppy dog look on his face and puts himself in timeout...so cute! At least he knows what it means!

Jack's appetite has changed over the last few months. As posted in my last post, he went from being a good eater to being a picky eater. He's not a big fan of meat. We try and hide the meat in mac and cheese (which he loves) but he still picks it out or will even spit it out. He doesn't even like spaghetti...what kid doesn't like spaghetti? I hope this is just a phase because it is quite the challenge to figure out what to give him to ensure he is getting all of the nutrients he needs.

Jack turned 17 months old yesterday and continues to amaze us on all the stuff he's picked up on. I can't believe my baby is growing up so fast!
