River Trip

We had so much fun last year in New Braunfuls for my family's annual summer vacation, we decided to go back this year! We stayed in the same house right on the river. Jack really enjoyed playing in the water, walking around with Pops looking for rocks (he loves throwing rocks) and watching all the tubers float by. Jack is really into hats and in most of our pictures he's wearing a hat. We're not sure what his deal is with hats lately but he loves them so much he even took a nap with one on! We had a really great time at the river and can't wait until next year!

I wanna be a fireman!

So, I was out of town for work on Tuesday and most of Wednesday and Larry sent me this funny video of Jack and his fireman hat. I was at dinner when I received it and showed everyone at the table! Jack wasn't feeling good over the weekend so I took him to the doctor on Monday and he has bronchitis. I didn't want to leave, but I didn't have a choice so I was very happy to see that he was feeling better. Please excuse the nakedness. It's a challenge getting him dressed after taking a bath.

What's new with Jack?

Jack's vocabulary is expanding everyday and he's learning so much. The teachers at his school teach the kids sign language (just your basic words). About 3 months ago, Jack walked up to us and hit his fists together. For the longest time we didn't know what he was doing or trying to tell us, until we googled it and found out that was the sign for "more". He now will say the word "more" and do the sign. Jack also knows the sign for "eat" (and will also say the word) and "please". Here are a few more words that Jack has added to his vocabulary: cracker, tractor, kick, eye, hot, nigh night, boon (moon - always looking for it in the sky), hat, sit down, all gone, all right and his current favorite word is mine.

He loves books and will sneak off to his room to read a book. His favorite book right now is a word and picture book called First 100 Words. He points to a picture, we'll say what it is (if he doesn't beat us to it) and tries to repeat the word. He can point to all of his facial features and body parts. His favorite movie is Finding Nemo and he goes crazy about all the pish (fish).

We've started to put Jack in timeout when he misbehaves and so far, we've only had to do it twice. But now when we ask him, "Do you want to go to timeout?", he walks over to the corner and stands there. It's so funny and we can't help but laugh! He gets this sad puppy dog look on his face and puts himself in timeout...so cute! At least he knows what it means!

Jack's appetite has changed over the last few months. As posted in my last post, he went from being a good eater to being a picky eater. He's not a big fan of meat. We try and hide the meat in mac and cheese (which he loves) but he still picks it out or will even spit it out. He doesn't even like spaghetti...what kid doesn't like spaghetti? I hope this is just a phase because it is quite the challenge to figure out what to give him to ensure he is getting all of the nutrients he needs.

Jack turned 17 months old yesterday and continues to amaze us on all the stuff he's picked up on. I can't believe my baby is growing up so fast!

Jack vs. Food

Jack used to be a really good eater but the older he gets, the pickier he gets. He's pretty good about eating his veggies and loves fruit but is very picky with meat. A few weeks ago, Grandpa, Uncle John and Aunt Tracy were visiting and Larry bar-b-qued ribs and chicken drummies. We didn't think he would eat the ribs or drummies, but we were wrong...he loved them both and made a big mess! After dinner, he even had room for desert and wasn't going to let any of the whip cream go to waste!

Ribs are good!

Yummy!

Double time!

Houston Zoo

We've been dying to take Jack to the zoo! We've been so busy this summer and this was our first free weekend so we took full advantage of it and went yesterday morning. Jack LOVES all kinds of animals and I knew he would love it, and boy was I right! He would not stay in his stroller so we let him walk around most of the time. The Houston Zoo has a Children's Petting Zoo and he had so much fun petting and chasing after the goats. He loved the aquarium, but most of all, he loved the elephants....those were definitely his favorite! Larry and I also enjoyed it and can't wait to go back, but we both agreed that the summer time is not the best time to go (it's way too hot) so we plan to go back in the fall or early spring.

Market Street

We went to the Woodlands Market Street this morning to do a little shopping and play in the water. Jack had so much fun playing in the shooting water and running around outside that we didn't do a whole lot of shopping! Here are a few picture's from the fun morning we had.

Jack loved the pony/donkey statue. He kept running over to it and giving it kisses and saying "ride, ride".

If Sally can do it....

why can't I?

Sally is The Shipley's (our friends/neighbors) chocolate lab. She loves to hang out at our house and we love having her over, especially Jack! Our little dog, Bella, wants nothing to do with Jack. He chases her around and she'll usually hide under the bed to get a away from him, but Sally is so good with him. He always gives her kisses and runs around saying her name over and over....Salleeee, Salleeee. It's so cute!

I love this little guy!

Every once in awhile, I have to go out of town for work. I left for New Jersey/New York on Monday and got back into town this morning. It's nice to get away (even though I'm working), but I always miss my boys like crazy! Larry is so good about sending me pictures and videos while I'm away, and it really helps and always puts a smile on my face. Here's a funny video Larry sent me of Jack laughing in the bath tub. The littlest things make him laugh and once he starts, he can't stop...he's so funny and I love it! I also included a really cute picture that he sent me...check out his hair!

Time Square - we had a free night last night so we went to the city for dinner and walked around for a few hours.

Love Bite

I got a call yesterday from Jack's teacher and she informed me that one of Jack's friend's bit him on the face. I was about to leave work to pick him up but she assured me it was not an emergency so I kept calm. When I got there, Jack was running around but as I got closer I noticed the bite mark on his right cheek. It didn't seem to bother him so I talked to the teacher, signed an accident report and felt a little better about the situation. Although I'm not happy about what happened, it's kind of funny how it happened...a little girl in his class was giving him a hug and then going in for a kiss, at least that's what the teachers thought, instead she gave him a little love bite!

When I was little, I always got bit by the same little boy at school. He would never bite anyone else, just me. Hopefully that's not the case with Jack and this is a one time thing!
