Surgery Day

Jack is doing so good! We arrived at the hospital at 6:30 am and the nurses took him back around 7:45 am. The doctor came out and got us at 8:25 am and told us all about his giant tonsils and even bigger adenoids (that was the doctors exact words). They burned through two lazer wands to remove his adenoids (most of the time they only need one). He's eating lots of ice cream, popsicles, pudding and jello and is also drinking lots of fluids. He is hooked up to an IV and has not even tried to pull it out. Even though he is doing so good, they still want us to stay so they can monitor him overnight. We will most likely be released tomorrow around 6:00 am. Until then, we are relaxing, watching lots of movies, coloring and playing games.

ENT Visit - Tonsils and Adenoids

We had Jack's appointment with the ENT Specialist this morning.  Jack's tonsils are huge (the specialist let me take a peek)!  He called them "kissing tonsils", when tonsils meet in the midline or overlap.  It is unusual for tonsils to touch or meet in the midline without protrusion of the tongue.  His adenoids are also very large and this is why he has a hard time breathing out of his nose and snores when he sleeps.  We scheduled surgery to have both his tonsils and adenoids removed on June 21.  Once they are removed, the specialist said he will be a new little boy!!  Jack will have to stay one night in the hospital.  All kids under the age of 4, must stay 23 hours after surgery.  I know it's going to be a tough few days but if it will make our little guy stay well, it will be worth it.

Movin' On Up

At swim lessons on Tuesday, Jack's instructor tested him and decided he was ready to be moved up to the next class.  He will jump to us from the step or the side of the pool, can blow bubbles and is not affraid to go under water, knows to kick his legs when laying on his tummy or back, can climb out of the pool without our help and can swim under water for a few seconds (while mommy or the instructor hold him, of course).  He really enjoys swimming and we love watching our little fish!

Jack is also getting ready to move up to the next class at school, the Pre-School class.  They will focus on potty training, which we are very excited about!  Jack will use the potty every now and then.  Right now we're not pushing him to do it.  We have been waiting for him to transitiion to his new class so we can really start the training process and keep it consistent.  We're also happy that Jack's good friends, Tyler and Diego, will be moving up with him (Marianna moved up a few weeks ago and Matilda and Sophie will be joining them in a few weeks).  Jack loves and talks about his friends all the time so we're glad they are keeping them together!

Jack wanted to continue swimming after his lessons so he jumped in his pool at home!

ROARRRRR!!

Jack has been sick the past few days so I decided to take him to the doctor yesterday.  He's been running a low grade fever and has some fluid on his right ear.  While we were at the doctor, I asked her about him being congested and having a hard time breathing through his nose, even when he's not sick.  She looked down his throat and said "whoa, his tonsils are huge", so we are headed back to the ENT Specialist.  He has an appointment on June 13th.  I'll keep you posted.

Jack started feeling much better this afternoon and was back to his silly self.  He loves dinosaurs!  Below is a short video of him looking at his dinosaur book....he does this every time!

Ready for summer...

It's starting to get hotter, which means summer is almost officially here.  We got out the water table, set up the sprinkler ball, practiced making sandcastles in the sandbox and got a playset to play on for hours and hours.  We're so ready for summer and so is our backyard!

Trip to the Zoo

We went to the zoo yesterday morning and had a great time....we love the zoo!  It was a little crowded but the weather was awesome!  Jack loved seeing the lions and tigers and made a "roar" sound all day.  He also enjoyed the aquarium since he's really into fish, frogs and lizards.  When we're outside he looks for frogs and lizards everywhere. I didn't take too many pictures but here are a few.

School Picture

Jack had school pictures a few weeks ago.  I think they turned out pretty good, considering we can't get him to stay still for 5 seconds to take a picture and he even has somewhat of a smile on his face!  I thought the pictures would be from waist up so I put him in shorts and Crocs....I'll know next time to dress him in something a little nicer.

Swim Lessons

Today was Jack's first day of swim lessons and he did so good!  He was a little scared at first but after a few minutes in the water and getting used to all the new faces, he was good to go.  For the first few classes or until he feels comfortable with the instructor, I will be in the water with him.  We go once a week and we are both looking forward to next weeks class!  Here's a picture of Jack checking everything out while we were waiting for our class to start.

Fun Weekend

This was our first free weekend in awhile so we took full advantage of it.  We met a few of Jack's friends from school (Tyler, Deigo and Marianna) at The Children's Museum in The Woodlands on Saturday.  The kids had so much fun!  On Sunday, we went to the park to feed the ducks and play on the playground....two of Jack's favorite things to do!  That afternoon we did some yard work and Jack helped Daddy mow the lawn.  We love weekends like this and love doing fun stuff with our little guy!

Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny visited Jack's school last week and I had to post the picture.  It's not the best picture but we were so surprised he actually sat on his lap.  He looks like he's about to make a run for it but at least he's not crying or freaking out.
