Thanksgiving (better late than never)

I am so late in posting about our wonderful Thanksgiving this year - better late than never.  For the first time, we had Thanksgiving dinner at our house with Larry's brother and sister-n-law.  We did a lot of cooking and for the first time, I made my Grandma Selzer's famous, yummy dressing (stuffing).  Everything turned out great and the dressing tasted and smelt just like my Grandma's (I couldn't believe it)!  We went to my parents house for Thanksgiving weekend.  Jack loves riding Peeto (Frito) and never wants to get off.  We had a great Thanksgiving this year!  We are so thankful for family, friends, our health and so much more!!

Jack's First Dentist Visit

Jack had his first visit to the dentist this morning and did really good for his first time!  He wouldn't sit in the chair so they had him sit in my lap and lay back.  He got his teeth cleaned and checked out by Dr. A.  Jack didn't have any cavities or stains and got an A+ on his report card!  Dr. A said everything looks great and gave Jack two big stickers and some goodies to take home.  Dr. A even gave me a big sticker that said "Super Mom".  We are both very proud!!!

Showing off his pearly whites!!!

Holding up his report card - so proud!!

Cowboy Jack

Halloween was so much fun this year!! Our neighborhood had their annual trick or treating hayride. The hayride is always fun but you have to stay on until the end and sometimes the kids are exhausted halfway through. This year, The Shipley's decided to have their own hayride and we hopped on their trailer. It was great! The trailer had lights and blankets, it wasn't crowded and we were able to stop when the kids got tired or when their bags filled up with candy and they couldn't carry them anymore. Big THANKS to The Shipley's for letting us trick or treat on their hayride!

Jack-O-Lantern

Jack helped Daddy carve our very first pumpkin.  He helped spoon out the seeds and insides and draw on the face.  While Daddy was doing the carving, Jack was decorating his baby pumpkin.  He was amazed when we put a candle inside and the pumpkins face lite up.  We all enjoyed it and have decided to do it every year!!

Sea World

We went to Sea World in San Antonio on Saturday and had so much fun!  Jack loved seeing all the animals, especially the sharks and the Shamu show called One Ocean.  There was so much to see and do, we spent the whole day there.  We were all wiped out by the end of the day but really had a great time and enjoyed spending time with Mimi and Aunt Tracy!!

National Night Out

Our neighborhood had a National Night Out last week at our park.  The kids had so much fun!  They had a fire truck, police motorcycles, hot dogs, hamburgers and were able to run around and play at the park.  Jack loves fire trucks and motorcycles and really enjoyed playing with Caden and Brooke!!

Update on Jack

We have had a crazy busy summer and I haven't been the best at posting or taking pictures, but I wanted to give a quick update on our little guy and everything he's been up to.  Our biggest accomplishment is Jack being diaper free...he's completely potty trained!!  He tells us when he has to go but sometimes we still have to remind him when he's playing or busy doing something.  He did an amazing job with the transition and we are so happy!

Jack has also been in the Pre-School class at school for a few months now.  He loves his new class and is learning so much!  The other day his teacher told me he is a 5 year old boy in a 2 year old's body.  He can say (sing) his ABC's, he can count to 20 (but sometimes gets stuck on 16, 17, 18),  knows all his colors and shapes (loves playing with his flashcards) and loves singing Old MacDonald and Humpty Dumpty.  Jack is still doing very well in swim lessons but we've decided to take a break and this will be his last month.  We'll start him back up in February or March.  We put Jack in soccer and he loves it!  He hasn't been sick (no running nose or congestion) and we haven't been to the doctor since Jack got his tonsils and adenoids out in June (we were going to the doctor at least 3 times a month).  He eats so much better now and we can tell he feels great!  Our little guy is growing up too fast but we are so proud of the little boy he has become!  Here are a few pictures from the last few weeks.

Potty Time

We started potty training Jack three weeks ago.  The first week didn't go so well so we decided to take a break (he wasn't quite ready).  On Tuesday of this week, Jack came up to me and said "Mommy, I have to go pee pee" and off to the bathroom we went.  He told me he had to go two more times that day so we decided to give it another shot, and so far so good!  He's done very well this week and has only had a few accidents.  He's been wearing underwear since Thursday and only wears a pull-up at night.  We're so proud of him and so happy to be diaper free!

When Jack looks back at his blog as a teenager he is going to kill me for posting this picture, but I couldn't resist...it's so darn cute!

River Trip 2011

We went to the river with my family a few weeks ago (sorry, I'm so late posting this...things have been crazy).  We had a great time and Jack had a blast!  He loved the river water and loved jumping from rock to rock.  I forgot my camera (I told you things were crazy) but my brother took some good pictures.

Pool + Friends = Fun!

We met a few of Jack's friends from school at the pool on Sunday.  This pool is perfect for little kids.  Majority of the pool is shallow and has a huge play structure.  The best part of it is the large slide in the back...they all hold hands and go down it together!  The kids love it and always have so much fun together!
